President's Message

Greetings,

Welcome to the start of our new HIMSS calendar year! Whether you are a first time, or long time subscriber to our Central and North Florida HIMSS Chapter newsletter, we are so happy to have you along for the ride. Last month we held our annual board retreat and as a team, put together our business plan for the year. We also take the time to recognize those in service to our chapter who are transitioning out of their current roles, welcome new and returning faces to our different committees and enjoy just spending time together as our leadership teams since our homes are spread out all over Florida. I am so excited to serve our community in the role of Chapter President and am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the course of the calendar year.

Team Shout Outs!! Thank you doesn’t even begin to encompass my gratitude and appreciation for our Executive Board Members, Sharon Harrell and Mark McCrary who are transitioning within our chapter to new roles. Sharon has served as our President these last two years and Mark as our Treasurer. Director of Programs, Kimley Mitchel-El; Director of Sponsorships, Bob Delaney and Co-Directors of Membership, Mary-Margaret Richter and Rebecca Compton have also completed their Director commitments and a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to each of them for all that they have contributed through what became an unprecedented time of national upheaval.

Our recent chapter election resulted in Johan Lidros being accepted into our open Treasurer role. Johan has been a faithful CNFL chapter member, volunteer and advocate for us for over 15 years and we appreciate him tremendously.

Welcome to our new Programs Director, Emily Newsome; Communications Director, Kimberley Ayow and Sponsorship Director, Steve Kennedy. In upcoming newsletters, we will be highlighting each of our Directors to allow you to get to know them better, as well as their team members and committee focus, goals and plans for the year.

We are always on the lookout for Committee Director’s and Volunteers and currently have several open roles that we are actively trying to fill. If you are interested in more information and would like to get involved, you can reach out to me at cnfl.president@himsschapter.org and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

On a personal note, as someone who grew up only 45 minutes from Center City Philadelphia, I spent a lot of my life enjoying Valley Forge National Park running through the old battlefields, exploring the soldiers encampment cabins and immersing myself with local history with General Washington’s Headquarters and the man himself who would become our nation’s first President. Trips to see AND touch the Liberty Bell and regular tours inside Independence Hall to visit the room where both the Declarations of Independence and the American Constitution were debated and adopted still gives me chills today. Happy Independence Day and I hope you enjoyed a fantastic July 4th holiday!

Sincerely,

Rachel Reiter

President, HIMSS Central & North Florida Chapter
